RISK ASSESSED, RISK CONTROLLED

Following a recent water risk assessment at this student accommodation site, a number of remedial actions were identified to improve compliance and reduce potential risks associated with the mains water supply. One of the key actions was to address deficiencies in the existing break tank arrangement, which was no longer suitable under current water safety regulations.

We were instructed to carry out the replacement of the existing system with a compliant Lowara break tank, ensuring the installation met the necessary standards for backflow protection and water storage. As part of the remedial works, associated pipework was reconfigured and upgraded to suit the revised layout, with final insulation and finishes applied to improve system performance and longevity.

These works were completed as part of a wider programme of compliance-led upgrades across site, supporting the ongoing management of water hygiene and risk. The installation now meets the requirements set out in the site’s water risk assessment and provides a reliable, futureproofed solution for the building’s mains water infrastructure.
